One hundred and twenty-four healthy subjects with a mean age of 61.8 years consumed daily, either a L.caseicontaining milk drink or a placebo for 3-weeks. Mood and cognition were measured at the beginning and after 10 and 20 days of consumption. The subjects that started the experiment with the lowest mood, responded selectively by reporting themselves as happy rather than depressed after taking the probiotics [3].
